A Kula is an Ancient Swedish herding call. It was used by herding girls to call their cattle home from the mountains, or to communicate with each other as they were quite isolated. Similar to the yodel, it is characterized by high-pitched head tones, echoing across far distances with no vibrato, the use of syllables like "dee" and "hee" in lieu of words, quick pitch changes and glottal stops. It is found to be very haunting and beautiful due to the typical use of half and quarter tones.
A voice type or a melody characterized by it's elaborate ornamentation and embellishment, the use of trills, staccati, runs, and leaps in notes used. It is used especially in operatic music. To have this voice type includes the ability to produce notes above high C (C6).
The technique in which a singer uses controlled phonation to produce a sound similar to yelling with a mix of chest and head voice. It has less vibrato and limited vowel modification, and is generally used in musical theatre or with mainstream pop/rock artists.
